The Fulling mill

By the Tino river there stands an ancient water-powered fulling mill, where the coarse woollen fabric known as orbace was once fulled: it is a fascinating industrial archaeology site. The mill is a plain stone building with wooden roof. Orbace, the cloth once used for making clothes, was pounded with heavy mallets operated by a large wheel powered by the flow of the river.

From Nuoro, heading to Sassari-Oristano, take SS 389 towards Fonni. After passing the village continue along SS 389 heading for Ovodda first and then Tiana. The fulling mill stands about 1 km from the village, along SS 128, in the Tino river valley.
